Life Cycle

If you’re looking for someone who isn’t officious to officiate at your life cycle event, I am (depending on my other work commitments) available for:

  • Weddings
  • Commitment ceremonies
  • Adult b’nai mitzvah
  • Welcoming/naming ceremonies (both for babies and for adults)
  • Ceremonies marking other important life changes such as gender transition, adoption, becoming a step parent or foster parent, recovery from an illness, etc.

As an officiant, I am warm, professional and reasonably flexible. It is my personal policy, and that of Temple Concord, the community where I serve, to perform weddings for couples of mixed faith traditions. I am always happy to work with people to adapt the ritual patterns provided by Jewish tradition to meet the particular needs of individuals/families/members of a partnership/etc. I am comfortable working people of all genders and familiar with the particular challenges and opportunities faced by LGBTQIA+ folks and neurodiverse folks when it comes to engaging with Jewish ritual.

Be aware that I live in upstate New York and my first obligation is to my congregation. This means that I am generally not able to travel to any great degree for life cycle events. I provide life cycle officiation at no charge to members of Temple Concord — for everyone else, I am happy to discuss my fees for various types of event.

If you think you might be interested in having me officiate your life cycle event, please send me a note via this website’s Contact page.
